The Grüne Woche (Green Week) is one of the world’s largest and most influential trade fairs for food, agriculture, and sustainability. Held annually in Berlin, the event brings together farmers, agribusinesses, policymakers, sustainability experts, and food innovators to showcase what’s next for food systems and climate-smart agriculture. Since its founding in 1926, the Grüne Woche has grown into a key meeting point where policy meets practice, tackling topics such as carbon farming, regenerative agriculture, agritech innovations, and food security.

Last year, we attended the Grüne Woche Startup-Days. This year, we had the privilege of attending under the generous patronage of the Senate of Berlin, who hosted us for four days in their startup-focused section near one of the many food courts. Between bites of “what-on-earth-is-this?” and “oh-wow-this-is-delicious”, we had plenty of conversations about the future of carbon monitoring and sustainability reporting. While making sure not a single food stand, innovation hub stand, or relevant business booth was left untasted unvisited, our CEO and COO took the opportunity to engage with several agrifood companies navigating the challenges of tracking, analyzing, and reporting their carbon footprint. Many of them are currently trying to perfect their non-financial reports, particularly when it comes to the tricky world of Scope 3 emissions.

An important takeaway from this year’s Grüne Woche is the industry’s clear shift towards climate action. The demand for scalable, tech-driven carbon monitoring solutions is stronger than ever. As we started advertising our upcoming free online workshop on the new CRCF and tackling Scope 3 emissions with Carbon Farming, the discussions we had with agrifood leaders reinforced the feeling urgency of making sustainability measurable, verifiable, and, most importantly, actionable. Businesses need better tools to stay ahead of regulatory changes like CSRD and the newly introduced CRCF framework. At CinSOIL, we’re more committed than ever to helping agrifood companies take control of their carbon strategies.
